Family Planning

There is a way to chart your cycle naturally, without using artificial and harmful chemicals.

Numerous studies conducted by the U.S. Federal Government have shown that using your body's natural symptoms to determine times of fertility is between 99-100% effective when practiced correctly. It uses modern, scientific techniques to determine when a woman is fertile or infertile so married couples can achieve or postpone pregnancy.

Statistics also show that the divorce rate for couples using natural means for family planning is 3%, compared to a rate of 50% for couples who use contraception.

There are many different methods of this type of family planning. Some include:

CREIGHTON MODEL FERTILITYCARE SYSTEM

This is a scientifically based method (previously known as natural family planning) developed by OB/Gyn Dr. Thomas Hilgers. It can be practiced to help identify/treat infertility issues, address women’s (married or single) health problems such as PMS or painful periods, help couples achieve or avoid pregnancy, and promote long lasting marriages. The Woman’s New Life Center offers Creighton Model NFP classes. Please call us for more information at 504.831.3117.

THE OVULATION METHOD OR CERVICAL MUCUS METHOD

This is based on understanding and interpreting that changing of cervical secretions to determine fertility.

BASAL BODY TEMPERATURE

This is when you take your temperature at a designated time each morning. Fertility is interpreted by the natural rise and fall of temperatures during your cycle.

SYMPTO-THERMAL METHOD

This method involves observing your cervical mucus changes as well as recording your basal body temperature to determine fertility.
